Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Use Face Tag Feature Manually in the Stock Gallery App in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

When the face tag feature in the stock Gallery app is enabled, your phone will scan your photos using facial recognition to detect faces within the photos. When your phone detects a face within a photo, a white frame will be appeared around the face to let you tag a contact to that face. However, your phone may fail to detect a face within a photo due to some reason, e.g: face angle, face skin, skin colour, facial expression, light conditions or object's accessories(e,g: glasses, hat, etc). Fortunately, if your phone fails to detect a face within a photo then you can still tag a contact to the face manually with ease.

How to manually tag a contact to a face in a photo in the stock Gallery app?
Assuming that the face tag feature is enabled, you can manually tag a contact to an undetected face within a photo by using the following steps:

1. Open the stock Gallery app.
2. Tap an album and then tap the required photo.
3. Long tap on the desired face you want to tag. It'll quickly bring you to the tag face screen.
4. If needed, you can adjust the tagged area by dragging .
5. Tap Save button to save the changes.
6. Select the required contact.
7. The selected contact has been tagged to the selected face.
